How to play Connect Four
Connect Four is played on a vertical grid of 7 columns and 6 rows. Discs drop to the lowest free space of the column you choose.
Rules
- Players take turns dropping one disc into any column that is not full.
- Connect four of your discs in a row – horizontally, vertically or diagonally – to win.
- If the board fills up with no line of four, the game is a draw.
- On a keyboard you can press 1–7 to drop a disc into a column.
Tips to win
- Control the middle column: it is part of more possible lines than any other.
- Look for squares that would give your opponent four in a row and avoid filling the space directly below them.
- Build two threats at once, one above the other, to force a win.
