How to play Battleship
Each player hides a fleet of five ships on a 10×10 grid: a carrier (5), a battleship (4), a cruiser (3), a submarine (3) and a destroyer (2).
Rules
- Ships are placed in straight lines and may not touch each other, not even diagonally.
- Take turns firing at a square of the enemy grid. A miss passes the turn; a hit lets you fire again.
- A ship sinks when all of its squares are hit. Sinking the whole enemy fleet wins.
- You can shuffle the fleet or tap a ship to move it before you press Ready.
Tips to win
- Hunt on a checkerboard pattern – every ship covers at least two squares, so you never miss one.
- After a hit, try the four neighbouring squares, then follow the line.
- Squares around a sunk ship are always empty, so skip them.
Ranked play
Only games against people change your rating. The computer on Hard uses probability maps, so it is good practice.
